With a Market Cap of $145 billion, HDFC Bank is 3rd largest company on India’s stock exchange.

HDFC Expansion And Formation Of Subsidiaries

Since its establishment in 1994, HDFC has expanded its operations in the banking space. They made some significant mergers in the 1990s with Times Bank and Centurion Bank of Punjab, the latter was reportedly the largest acquisition in the Indian financial sector during that time.

HDFC is different from HDFC Securities. While HDFC is a leading bank and financial conglomerate, HDFC Securities is an investment and asset management company. HDFC Bank owns HDFC Securities with 95% Stake.

HDFC Sky is a part of the HDFC Securities group. According to SEBI Regulations, clients are not allowed to have two trading accounts with the same broking house. Therefore HDFC Securities only allows HDFC Customers to open trading & demat accounts. Clients are required to choose between HDFC Securities and Sky App.

Financial Performance of HDFC Securities.

HDFC Securities Limited is one of the most promising unlisted share companies in the market today. As far as the financial performance is concerned, it has been quite good. The company released its FY 23-24 results.

Here are some key highlights of FY 23-24:

  • Total income saw a jump of 40.6% (FY23: Rs1,89,163 in lacs to FY24: RS 2,66,073 in lacs). This is a massive growth in terms of operation for HDFC Securities.
  • Total customer base has risen to 53,82,198 nearly 20% higher than FY23.
  • The Average Mutual Fund Book Size in FY24 was Rs 4,855 Cr, which is 50% higher than in FY23. While the Average daily turnover has risen 113.42%.
  • The secondary market volumes at HDFC Securities Institutional Equities (HSIE) have multiplied over the past 5years.

This growth was aided by favorable market conditions and an increased market share with domestic Mutual Funds, Insurance Companies, AIFs, and PMS. All these indicate a healthy growth of hdfc securities share price.
